2 For they shall add to you length of days, and years of life, and peace. 3 Let not mercy and truth leave you, put them about your neck, and write them in the tables of your heart. 4 And you shall find grace, and good understanding before God and men. 5 Have confidence in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not upon your own prudence. 6 In all your ways think on him, and he will direct your steps. 7 Be not wise in your own conceit: fear God, and depart from evil: 8 For it shall be health to your navel, and moistening to your bones. 9 Honour the Lord with your substance, and give him of the first of all your fruits; 10 and your barns shall be filled with abundance, and your presses shall run over with wine.
11 υἱέ μὴ ὀλιγώρει παιδείας κυρίου μηδὲ ἐκλύου ὑπ' αὐτοῦ ἐλεγχόμενος 12 ὃν γὰρ ἀγαπᾷ κύριος παιδεύει μαστιγοῖ δὲ πάντα υἱὸν ὃν παραδέχεται 13 μακάριος ἄνθρωπος ὃς εὗρεν σοφίαν καὶ θνητὸς ὃς εἶδεν φρόνησιν 14 κρεῖττον γὰρ αὐτὴν ἐμπορεύεσθαι ἢ χρυσίου καὶ ἀργυρίου θησαυρούς 15 τιμιωτέρα δέ ἐστιν λίθων πολυτελῶν οὐκ ἀντιτάξεται αὐτῇ οὐδὲν πονηρόν εὔγνωστός ἐστιν πᾶσιν τοῖς ἐγγίζουσιν αὐτῇ πᾶν δὲ τίμιον οὐκ ἄξιον αὐτῆς ἐστιν 16 μῆκος γὰρ βίου καὶ ἔτη ζωῆς ἐν τῇ δεξιᾷ αὐτῆς ἐν δὲ τῇ ἀριστερᾷ αὐτῆς πλοῦτος καὶ δόξα  ἐκ τοῦ στόματος αὐτῆς ἐκπορεύεται δικαιοσύνη νόμον δὲ καὶ ἔλεον ἐπὶ γλώσσης φορεῖ 17 αἱ ὁδοὶ αὐτῆς ὁδοὶ καλαί καὶ πάντες οἱ τρίβοι αὐτῆς ἐν εἰρήνῃ 18 ξύλον ζωῆς ἐστι πᾶσι τοῖς ἀντεχομένοις αὐτῆς καὶ τοῖς ἐπερειδομένοις ἐπ' αὐτὴν ὡς ἐπὶ κύριον ἀσφαλής 19 ὁ θεὸς τῇ σοφίᾳ ἐθεμελίωσεν τὴν γῆν ἡτοίμασεν δὲ οὐρανοὺς ἐν φρονήσει 20 ἐν αἰσθήσει ἄβυσσοι ἐρράγησαν νέφη δὲ ἐρρύησαν δρόσους 11 My son, reject not the correction of the Lord: and do not faint when you are chastised by him: 12 For whom the Lord loves, he chastises: and as a father in the son he pleases himself. 13 Blessed is the man that finds wisdom, and is rich in prudence: 14 The purchasing thereof is better than the merchandise of silver, and her fruit than the chief and purest gold: 15 She is more precious than all riches: and all the things that are desired, are not to be compared to her. 16 Length of days is in her right hand, and in her left hand riches and glory.   17 Her ways are beautiful ways, and all her paths are peaceable. 18 She is a tree of life to them that lay hold on her: and he that shall retain her is blessed. 19 The Lord by wisdom has founded the earth, has established the heavens by prudence. 20 By his wisdom the depths have broken out, and the clouds grow thick with dew. 19 Dominus sapientia fundavit terram; stabilivit cælos prudentia. 20 Sapientia illius eruperunt abyssi, et nubes rore concrescunt.
21 υἱέ μὴ παραρρυῇς τήρησον δὲ ἐμὴν βουλὴν καὶ ἔννοιαν 22 ἵνα ζήσῃ ἡ ψυχή σου καὶ χάρις ᾖ περὶ σῷ τραχήλῳ  ἔσται δὲ ἴασις ταῖς σαρξί σου καὶ ἐπιμέλεια τοῖς σοῖς ὀστέοις 23 ἵνα πορεύῃ πεποιθὼς ἐν εἰρήνῃ πάσας τὰς ὁδούς σου ὁ δὲ πούς σου οὐ μὴ προσκόψῃ 24 ἐὰν γὰρ κάθῃ ἄφοβος ἔσῃ ἐὰν δὲ καθεύδῃς ἡδέως ὑπνώσεις 25 καὶ οὐ φοβηθήσῃ πτόησιν ἐπελθοῦσαν οὐδὲ ὁρμὰς ἀσεβῶν ἐπερχομένας 26 ὁ γὰρ κύριος ἔσται ἐπὶ πασῶν ὁδῶν σου καὶ ἐρείσει σὸν πόδα ἵνα μὴ σαλευθῇς 21 My son, let not these things depart from your eyes: keep the law and counsel: 22 And there shall be life to your soul, and grace to your mouth.   23 Then shall you walk confidently in your way, and your foot shall not stumble: 24 If you sleep, you shall not fear: you shall rest, and your sleep shall be sweet. 25 Be not afraid of sudden fear, nor of the power of the wicked falling upon you. 26 For the Lord will be at your side, and will keep your foot that you be not taken.
28 Say not to your friend: Go, and come again: and tomorrow I will give to you: when you can give at present. 29 Practise not evil against your friend, when he has confidence in you. 30 Strive not against a man without cause, when he has done you no evil. 31 Envy not the unjust man, and do not follow his ways. 32 For every mocker is an abomination to the Lord, and his communication is with the simple. 33 Want is from the Lord in the house of the wicked: but the habitations of the just shall be blessed. 34 He shall scorn the scorners, and to the meek he will give grace. 35 The wise shall possess glory: the promotion of fools is disgrace. 33 Egestas a Domino in domo impii; habitacula autem justorum benedicentur. 34 Ipse deludet illusores, et mansuetis dabit gratiam. 35 Gloriam sapientes possidebunt; stultorum exaltatio ignominia.
