| 1 ζυγοὶ δόλιοι βδέλυγμα ἐνώπιον κυρίου στάθμιον δὲ δίκαιον δεκτὸν αὐτῷ 2 οὗ ἐὰν εἰσέλθῃ ὕβρις ἐκεῖ καὶ ἀτιμία στόμα δὲ ταπεινῶν μελετᾷ σοφίαν 3 ἀποθανὼν δίκαιος ἔλιπεν μετάμελον πρόχειρος δὲ γίνεται καὶ ἐπίχαρτος ἀσεβῶν ἀπώλεια 4 5 δικαιοσύνη ἀμώμους ὀρθοτομεῖ ὁδούς ἀσέβεια δὲ περιπίπτει ἀδικίᾳ 6 δικαιοσύνη ἀνδρῶν ὀρθῶν ῥύεται αὐτούς τῇ δὲ ἀπωλείᾳ αὐτῶν ἁλίσκονται παράνομοι 7 τελευτήσαντος ἀνδρὸς δικαίου οὐκ ὄλλυται ἐλπίς τὸ δὲ καύχημα τῶν ἀσεβῶν ὄλλυται 8 δίκαιος ἐκ θήρας ἐκδύνει ἀντ' αὐτοῦ δὲ παραδίδοται ὁ ἀσεβής | 1 A deceitful balance is an abomination before the Lord: and a just weight is his will. 2 Where pride is, there also shall be reproach: but where humility is, there also is wisdom. 3 The simplicity of the just shall guide them: and the deceitfulness of the wicked shall destroy them. 4 Riches shall not profit in the day of revenge: but justice shall deliver from death. 5 The justice of the upright shall make his way prosperous: and the wicked man shall fall by his own wickedness. 6 The justice of the righteous shall deliver them: and the unjust shall be caught in their own snares. 7 When the wicked man is dead, there shall be no hope any more: and the expectation of the solicitous shall perish. 8 The just is delivered out of distress: and the wicked shall be given up for him. | 1 Statera dolosa abominatio est apud Dominum, et pondus æquum voluntas ejus. 2 Ubi fuerit superbia, ibi erit et contumelia; ubi autem est humilitas, ibi et sapientia. 3 Simplicitas justorum diriget eos, et supplantatio perversorum vastabit illos. 4 Non proderunt divitiæ in die ultionis; justitia autem liberabit a morte. 5 Justitia simplicis diriget viam ejus, et in impietate sua corruet impius. 6 Justitia rectorum liberabit eos, et in insidiis suis capientur iniqui. 7 Mortuo homine impio, nulla erit ultra spes, et exspectatio sollicitorum peribit. 8 Justus de angustia liberatus est, et tradetur impius pro eo. |
| 9 ἐν στόματι ἀσεβῶν παγὶς πολίταις αἴσθησις δὲ δικαίων εὔοδος 10 ἐν ἀγαθοῖς δικαίων κατώρθωσεν πόλις 11 στόμασιν δὲ ἀσεβῶν κατεσκάφη 12 μυκτηρίζει πολίτας ἐνδεὴς φρενῶν ἀνὴρ δὲ φρόνιμος ἡσυχίαν ἄγει 13 ἀνὴρ δίγλωσσος ἀποκαλύπτει βουλὰς ἐν συνεδρίῳ πιστὸς δὲ πνοῇ κρύπτει πράγματα 14 οἷς μὴ ὑπάρχει κυβέρνησις πίπτουσιν ὥσπερ φύλλα σωτηρία δὲ ὑπάρχει ἐν πολλῇ βουλῇ 15 πονηρὸς κακοποιεῖ ὅταν συμμείξῃ δικαίῳ μισεῖ δὲ ἦχον ἀσφαλείας 16 γυνὴ εὐχάριστος ἐγείρει ἀνδρὶ δόξαν θρόνος δὲ ἀτιμίας γυνὴ μισοῦσα δίκαια πλούτου ὀκνηροὶ ἐνδεεῖς γίνονται οἱ δὲ ἀνδρεῖοι ἐρείδονται πλούτῳ | 9 The dissembler with his mouth deceives his friend: but the just shall be delivered by knowledge. 10 When it goes well with the just, the city shall rejoice: and when the wicked perish, there shall be praise. 11 By the blessing of the just the city shall be exalted: and by the mouth of the wicked it shall be overthrown. 12 He that despises his friend, is mean of heart: but the wise man will hold his peace. 13 He that walks deceitfully, reveals secrets: but he that is faithful, conceals the thing committed to him by his friend. 14 Where there is no governor, the people shall fall: but there is safety where there is much counsel. 15 He shall be afflicted with evil, that is surety for a stranger: but he that is aware of snares, shall be secure. 16 A gracious woman shall find glory: and the strong shall have riches. | 9 Simulator ore decipit amicum suum; justi autem liberabuntur scientia. 10 In bonis justorum exsultabit civitas, et in perditione impiorum erit laudatio. 11 Benedictione justorum exaltabitur civitas, et ore impiorum subvertetur. 12 Qui despicit amicum suum indigens corde est; vir autem prudens tacebit. 13 Qui ambulat fraudulenter, revelat arcana; qui autem fidelis est animi, celat amici commissum. 14 Ubi non est gubernator, populus corruet; salus autem, ubi multa consilia. 15 Affligetur malo qui fidem facit pro extraneo; qui autem cavet laqueos securus erit. 16 Mulier gratiosa inveniet gloriam, et robusti habebunt divitias. |
| 17 τῇ ψυχῇ αὐτοῦ ἀγαθὸν ποιεῖ ἀνὴρ ἐλεήμων ἐξολλύει δὲ αὐτοῦ σῶμα ὁ ἀνελεήμων 18 ἀσεβὴς ποιεῖ ἔργα ἄδικα σπέρμα δὲ δικαίων μισθὸς ἀληθείας 19 υἱὸς δίκαιος γεννᾶται εἰς ζωήν διωγμὸς δὲ ἀσεβοῦς εἰς θάνατον 20 βδέλυγμα κυρίῳ διεστραμμέναι ὁδοί προσδεκτοὶ δὲ αὐτῷ πάντες ἄμωμοι ἐν ταῖς ὁδοῖς αὐτῶν 21 χειρὶ χεῖρας ἐμβαλὼν ἀδίκως οὐκ ἀτιμώρητος ἔσται ὁ δὲ σπείρων δικαιοσύνην λήμψεται μισθὸν πιστόν 22 ὥσπερ ἐνώτιον ἐν ῥινὶ ὑός οὕτως γυναικὶ κακόφρονι κάλλος 23 ἐπιθυμία δικαίων πᾶσα ἀγαθή ἐλπὶς δὲ ἀσεβῶν ἀπολεῖται 24 εἰσὶν οἳ τὰ ἴδια σπείροντες πλείονα ποιοῦσιν εἰσὶν καὶ οἳ συνάγοντες ἐλαττονοῦνται 25 ψυχὴ εὐλογουμένη πᾶσα ἁπλῆ ἀνὴρ δὲ θυμώδης οὐκ εὐσχήμων 26 ὁ συνέχων σῖτον ὑπολίποιτο αὐτὸν τοῖς ἔθνεσιν εὐλογία δὲ εἰς κεφαλὴν τοῦ μεταδιδόντος 27 τεκταινόμενος ἀγαθὰ ζητεῖ χάριν ἀγαθήν ἐκζητοῦντα δὲ κακά καταλήμψεται αὐτόν 28 ὁ πεποιθὼς ἐπὶ πλούτῳ οὗτος πεσεῖται ὁ δὲ ἀντιλαμβανόμενος δικαίων οὗτος ἀνατελεῖ 29 ὁ μὴ συμπεριφερόμενος τῷ ἑαυτοῦ οἴκῳ κληρονομήσει ἄνεμον δουλεύσει δὲ ἄφρων φρονίμῳ 30 ἐκ καρποῦ δικαιοσύνης φύεται δένδρον ζωῆς ἀφαιροῦνται δὲ ἄωροι ψυχαὶ παρανόμων 31 εἰ ὁ μὲν δίκαιος μόλις σῴζεται ὁ ἀσεβὴς καὶ ἁμαρτωλὸς ποῦ φανεῖται | 17 A merciful man does good to his own soul: but he that is cruel casts off even his own kindred. 18 The wicked makes an unsteady work: but to him that sows justice, there is a faithful reward. 19 Clemency prepares life: and the pursuing of evil things, death. 20 A perverse heart is abominable to the Lord: and his will is in them that walk sincerely. 21 Hand in hand the evil man shall not be innocent: but the seed of the just shall be saved. 22 A golden ring in a swine's snout, a woman fair and foolish. 23 The desire of the just is all good, the expectation of the wicked is indignation. 24 Some distribute their own goods, and grow richer: others take away what is not their own, and are always in want. 25 The soul that blesses, shall be made fat: and he that inebriates, shall be inebriated also himself. 26 He that hides up corn, shall be cursed among the people: but a blessing upon the head of them that sell. 27 Well does he rise early who seeks good things; but he that seeks after evil things, shall be oppressed by them. 28 He that trusts in his riches shall fall: but the just shall spring up as a green leaf. 29 He that troubles his own house, shall inherit the winds: and the fool shall serve the wise. 30 The fruit of the just man is a tree of life: and he that gains souls is wise. 31 If the just man receive in the earth, how much more the wicked and the sinner. | 17 Benefacit animæ suæ vir misericors; qui autem crudelis est, etiam propinquos abjicit. 18 Impius facit opus instabile, seminanti autem justitiam merces fidelis. 19 Clementia præparat vitam, et sectatio malorum mortem. 20 Abominabile Domino cor pravum, et voluntas ejus in iis qui simpliciter ambulant. 21 Manus in manu non erit innocens malus; semen autem justorum salvabitur. 22 Circulus aureus in naribus suis, mulier pulchra et fatua. 23 Desiderium justorum omne bonum est; præstolatio impiorum furor. 24 Alii dividunt propria, et ditiores fiunt; alii rapiunt non sua, et semper in egestate sunt. 25 Anima quæ benedicit impinguabitur, et qui inebriat, ipse quoque inebriabitur. 26 Qui abscondit frumenta maledicetur in populis; benedictio autem super caput vendentium. 27 Bene consurgit diluculo qui quærit bona; qui autem investigator malorum est, opprimetur ab eis. 28 Qui confidit in divitiis suis corruet : justi autem quasi virens folium germinabunt. 29 Qui conturbat domum suam possidebit ventos, et qui stultus est serviet sapienti. 30 Fructus justi lignum vitæ, et qui suscipit animas sapiens est. 31 Si justus in terra recipit, quanto magis impius et peccator! |
